About Jacobite

Jacobite Who are we?

For over forty years, Loch Ness by Jacobite has welcomed Highland adventurers on board. Why? To cruise the mysteries and myths of the world famous Loch Ness, of course.

Our friendly crew are true professionals at what they do. In fact, each year they entertain nearly 300,000 visitors with award-winning cruises and tours on board our impressive fleet. And always with a smile!

Whatever you’re looking to see,  photograph, or explore in the heart of Loch Ness, we really do offer a monster-sized collection of cruises and tours to suit you and make your Loch Ness voyage great.

Read Our Nessie history

Our success is down to years of hard work, monster know-how, and enthusiasm about all things Loch Ness.

Since day one in 1975, we’ve believed that you – our customers – are number one. That’s why we do absolutely everything Nessie-sary to keep you safe and deliver you the adventure of a lifetime.

That’s also the belief of our owner Freda, who has captained the Jacobite business since 2002. With a vision to open up Nessie’s incredible shores to more and more intrepid adventurers, Freda has grown passenger numbers from 35,000 to just shy of 300,000! The world really does love to cruise with us!

Bigger tour groups meant our little boats needed to grow bigger too. So Jacobite Cruises’ much-loved fleet celebrated a happy retirement as the noughties came to a close. The new generation? A team of rather snazzy French catamarans which sailed North to keep our legendary tours alive – and to mark the start of an exciting era of all-in-one coach-boat-and-visit tours under our new name – ‘Loch Ness by Jacobite’.

Our cafe and retail destination An Talla, situated on the banks of the Caledonian Canal opened in 2019. Here you will find unique one-of-a-kind gifts, freshly prepared meals using locally sourced ingredients and the very best team Highland Hospitality has to offer!  Our recently refurbished Loch Ness Cottage Collection self-catering accommodation opened in 2020 - It’s just the latest chapter in the story of one of Scotland’s most legendary days out. Long may we keep you cruising!

Tours & Events Let's do this!

We have all-in-one tour packages to suit all adventurers by the bucket load. Whether that’s a one-hour cruise of the waters, or a half-day coach, cruise and castle voyage. Whatever package you jump on board with, one thing’s for sure – Loch Ness is best by Jacobite. That’s why we’re one of the only five-star tour operators on these most quirky of waters.

You can choose to set off on our cruises from Inverness Bus Station, Dochgarroch Lock and Clansman Harbour. Some of our tours also include entry to Urquhart Castle.

But the Loch Ness fun doesn’t stop there. For those special occasions, check out our exclusive, charters – ideal for wedding receptions, corporate hospitality and altogether special shindigs that are bound to make a splash statement. And as we know better than anyone over the years – there really ain’t no party like a Jacobite party!

If you would like to talk to someone about an event you're planning, or to discuss any of our cruises and tours, please give us a shout. You deserve it!

Lots of fun For little monsters

For wee ones (and big kids at heart), Loch Ness is in a word… legendary! It’s practically bursting its myth-packed shores with legends, castles, and fun things to see – including that world-famous monster.

We go to extra lengths to make sure that children enjoy every single monster-hunting minute on the waters of Loch Ness.

Our activity book, audio guide, on-screen sonar (so they can see what lurks beneath) and our intrepid Monster Patrol (that's the crew to me and you) are all here on board to make sure that kids go home with lots of memories. And, of course, lots of brave tales to impress their friends!

And remember – if your little monster is under the age of 5, they can enjoy the whole experience absolutely free*. It’s our way of welcoming the adventurers of tomorrow on board!

With all that excitement and fresh air, your monster hunters can work up quite the appetite. But don’t worry – we’ve got plenty of snacks and juice on board (plus a coffee or a wee dram for the grown ups) to keep those rumbly tums at bay.
