Where is the Clansman Harbour?
By Car: from Inverness, Clansman Harbour is 9 miles from the outskirts of Inverness on the main A82 and 4 miles north of Drumnadrochit if approaching from Fort William. Parking is courtesy of the Clansman Hotel which is located on the opposite side of the road from the Harbour. Access to the Harbour is via an underpass. View the directions and download a map here.

Where do tours leave from in Inverness?

What time are your cruises and tours?
We have options for both cruises and tours with morning and afternoon departures. You can choose from a 1, 2 or 3 hour cruise on Loch Ness, or a coach and cruise tour of 2.5, 3, 3.5 or 6.5 hours that incorporate visits to either Urquhart Castle, the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre, or both. In winter we offer a slightly reduced programme.

Are any of yourr ticket prices discounted?
There are a number of options you can choose from:

  • Children under 5 go free.
  • Children aged between 5 and 15 years old pay a child's fare.
  • Carers and people with disabilites are charged a student/senior rate (a senior rate is for anyone over 60).
  • There are special tickets for our Jacobite Inspiration and Reflection cruises. Family tickets cover two adults and up to three children under 16.
  • People working in the Armed Forces and their families are charged a student rate.
Do cruises and tours go every day?
We certainly do.  Jacobite cruises and tours are an all year attraction.  There are just two days you won't find us out on the loch - Christmas and New Year's day.  And because Urquhart Castle is closed on Boxing Day a number of our tours don't run then either.  The only thing that can occasionally put a complete stop to things is the weather.

What happens next if I decide to book online?
You will be taken to our booking server where you will be able to choose your departure date and time and make a secure payment. Book online now
If your group is larger than 12 people please call us on +44 (0)1463 233999.

Can I book online if I don't have a printer
Yes, you can. You will need to make a note of your booking ID number and present it at one of Jacobite's booking offices.

How far down the Loch do you go?
Our cruises go as far as Urquhart Castle near Drumnadrochit.  This is approximately half way down Loch Ness.

Are there toilets and refreshments on board?
There are toilets on board all vessels. We serve tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks including alcoholic beverages along with crisps, shortbread, chocolate, sweets and sandwiches (when available).

What is the weather like?
Check out our live Loch Ness weather feed!

Do we need to book or can we just turn up?
Things can get pretty busy especially at peak holiday times so we definitely recommend booking your tickets in advance.  You can book tickets via our secure online booking system for any time other than the day of departure itself. If your group is larger than 12 people please call us on +44 (0)1463 233999

What should I wear?
As you are no doubt aware, the weather in the Scottish Highlands can be changeable, even in the summer months.  We would therefore recommend that you take a variety of layers.  Please remember that each of our vessels has a covered and heated area for your comfort.

Do your boats have wheelchair access?
If you need wheelchair access. the ideal tour for you is the Reflection cruise on the Jacobite Queen.  This tour has good access for wheelchair users but please note that to reach the toilet or snack bar involves some fairly steep steps.  Cruises from the Clansman harbour are not suitable for wheelchair access.  There are a number of steps and a steep hill with uneven ground leading to the cruise departure point and then another steep hill when you disembark at Urquhart Castle.

Can I take my dog on a cruise?
Well behaved dogs are welcome on our Inspiration and Reflection cruises.  Please note that dogs are not allowed into Urquhart Castle or on the Jacobite coaches except for disability assistance.

Can I park my car at Clansman Harbour and at Tomnahurich Bridge?
Yes, there are ample free parking facilities at both the Clansman Harbour and Tomnahurich Bridge.

What do we do if we see Nessie?
You are one of the lucky ones so stay very quiet and try to take a picture!

Do you ever cancel cruises?
Bad weather - especially high winds - means that sometimes we have to cancel cruises.  If this happens, we make sure you get a full refund or transfer your tickets to a cruise on another day.
