Perfect day for Cruising on Loch Ness

The ice on the canal has finally melted and this morning there was a light dusting of snow, add to this the sun shining on the calm and peaceful Caledonian Canal, along side the Jacobite Queen and it was absolutely beautiful. I am annoyed that we did not have a camera handy as it would have been an another amazing picture.
Today is one of the best days you could be out cruising on Loch Ness - the water is so still that you can see the reflection of the snow covered mountains - stunning.

We are all very busy today - lots of phone calls with recruitment enquiries, the new website is underway and should be live in 2 weeks and Rod is very busy with the exciting new Brackla project. We now have 4 sets of architects drawings for consideration - and so far there are two favourites which we all seem to be agreeing on.

Chaos in the Office - at Jacobite

You would think that in the quieter winter months we would all be taking it easy here at Jacobite - No!!
It was total chaos in our tiny office today, along with day to day routine work, we are working on the new summer brochure, a brand new website, planning our recruitment for the new season and also working on our exciting new Brackla project. On top of this Mark, our IT guy, who is very patient, was trying not to trip over us as he tried to work through a list of jobs that we had given him (a days work) . So as you can imagine by the end of the day we were speaking to each other through gritted teeth :)
It will all be worth it in the end, we will have a fabulous new brochure, an amazing new website and some great new seasonal staff joining our team....and tomorrow we will go into work and start the day as we always do with a big smile.
PS As I said I would in my previous post I watched Scotlands Winterwonderland and I saw our boat the Jacobite Spirit - a brilliant shot. Scotland looks so beautiful from above when covered in snow...we are so lucky to have such amazing scenery on our doorstep :)

This morning I had a meeting with my coach Donald at Tisos cafe in Inverness. We were discussing this Blog when one of my colleagues Ali appeared - he is on his day off and is heading up the Cairngorms to climb a Corbett (which for those of you who don't know ) is a mountain between 2500 and 2999 feet high.
Ali asked if we had watched Scotland Winterwonderland last night on STV - because there was an amazing aerial shot of our very own Jacobite Spirit shown on the programme. I have not yet seen it but have recorded it and look forward to watching tonight. Ali tells me the scenery is stunning and it is well worth a watch.

There is now only 12 days to go until Santa comes to visit Jacobite. Santa has decided to include Jacobite in his busy schedule this year, and he hopes to meet as many children as possible on this particular day. Santa will be on the Jacobite Legend on Saturday 12th December on all the Inspiration cruises.
Because this is such an honour for us, we are allowing one child to go free with each paying adult, and we are also offering a family ticket at a discounted price of just £22.

Santa is coming to Jacobite!

The team at Jacobite are all really excited today. They have just found out that Santa has decided to come and visit Jacobite on Saturday 12th December.

He will be on the Jacobite Inspiration cruise throughout the day and wants to meet as many children as possible.

As this is such a special occasion we have decided to let one child go free if they are accompanied by a paying adult. We are also dropping the price of the family ticket to just £22 for up to 2 adults and 3 children.

So why not come and join us for a hot chocolate and mince pie, a relaxing cruise, and not forgetting.......a chat with Santa!

Jacobite Discovery project is unveiled

Jacobite has launched a new website showing the exciting plans to expand the company's facilities at Brackla, on the banks of Loch Ness. The project called 'Jacobite Discovery', is in its very early stages of planning. The website shows photos and plans for the new development which consists of a new harbour, reception, car parking and visitor facilities.

The aim of the development is to ensure that visitors will have a high quality facility from which to embark on their cruise. This £1m investment will mean that our customers will continue to enjoy Jacobite's high standards for many years to come.

Take a look at the website and do feel free to leave your comments there. Jacobite is holding a number of meetings in the next few months to gather people's thoughts and ideas at this early stage, prior to planning permission being sought. The results of the first meeting can already be been seen on the site.

Jacobite Discovery is a really exciting project for all of us at Jacobite and we are hoping that everyone in the local area will get behind us.

Jacobite Cruises celebrate winning Visit Scotland Thistle award

Champagne corks were popping as some of the Jacobite team were celebrating their award at the prestigious Visit Scotland Thistle Awards held last night in Edinburgh. The category, 'The Extra Mile', is awarded to a business that exceeds customer expectations, making a visit more memorable.

The Thistles are probably the most important awards in the tourism industry here in Scotland. The event was held at the Edinburgh International Exhibition Centre and Scotland's very own Midge Ure compered the ceremony before treating people to a few songs from his Ultravox and Band Aid era after dinner.

This is the second time that Jacobite has won an award at the Thistles, previously winning the People Development award.

Big congratulations to all the other winners from all of us here at Jacobite.

Jacobite Jess finishes the race!

Here is the proof we have all been waiting for. Yes, for all your doubters out there, Jacobite Jess did finish the Baxters 5K Fun Run in excellent time.

All the hard training paid off, the hours spent pounding the streets of Inverness and pumping iron on the shores of Loch Ness.

Jess certainly deserves a rest after her visit next week to deliver her sponsorship cheque to the Highland Hospice. Rumour has it, she has managed to collect a fair sum for all her hard work. So a big thank you to everyone who has supported her.

Jacobite Jess runs the Baxters 5k Loch Ness marathon

Jacobite Jess was out there with the best of them yesterday, running the Baxters Loch Ness 5K Fun Run. Warming up with all the other runners proved to be a challenge with her tail being extremely popular with the children around her. However she set off and managed to complete the race with everyone offering her lots of support and encouragement. It was a stunning day on the banks of the river and the atmosphere was fantastic. Jess (alias Julian McArdle) ran in aid of the Highland Hospice and she hopes to have raised around £250. It was definitely worth the odd blister or two!

The big question is, where did Jess come in the race? Well, you will just have to ask her if you see her, but the word on the street is that it was her personal best!..........

Famous fundraiser brings life size T Rex to Loch Ness

Renowned charity fundraiser Lloyd Scott attempted to bring his life size Tyrannosauras Rex to visit Jacobite Jess at the Clansman Harbour this weekend. The visit formed part of Lloyd's most ambitious fundraising challenge yet.

Lloyd has embarked on a Lands End to John O'Groats trek in aid of the charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, along with this very special walking companion. By the time he reached Loch Ness yesterday he had completed over 850 miles of his 1000 mile journey.

The last time Lloyd visited Loch Ness was in 2003, when he completed the world's first underwater marathon in the deep-sea diving suit.

Lloyd and his 13 foot high and 30 foot long dinosaur began their journey at Land's End on 19th July and will finish at John O'Groats 70 days later on 28th September. During this time, Scott will walk alongside the dinosaur, carried on a 25 foot trailer.

Unfortunately for the waiting Jess at the harbur, the visit had to be abandoned when the dinosaur proved too heavy to reverse down the steep bank. However, Lloyd and the T Rex managed to surprise passengers as they alighted from their morning cruise. This was one monster they really hadn't expected to see!

As part of Homecoming Scotland, each Friday afternoon in September at 2pm, Robin will tell passengers about the extraordinary life of Thomas Telford, Scotlands greatest engineer who changed many a landscape with his wonderful constructions, one of which is the Caledonian Canal.

Jacobite Jess prepares for Baxters 5K Fun Run

Jacobite Jess was out training today by the shores of Loch Ness. Pumping iron and sprinting alongside the waters edge, she hoped that her cousin Nessie would come and help her along.

Is this the Loch Ness monster on Google Earth?

It appears that the monster has been spotted once again on Loch Ness. Jason Cooke, a security guard, spotted this image when he was browsing on Google Earth a few days ago.

And so it seems that the mystery of the Loch Ness monster continues.

One thing for sure is that our team at Jacobite will be keeping a watchful eye on the sonar in the next few days and will report any mysterious findings they may see.

We wonder if this recent sighting may be connected to the images that appeared on our Jacobite sonar back in May when the cast of ‘Allo Allo’ were on board.

We will certainly be watching to see what the experts make of this latest sighting of the monster.
