Highland Field Sports Fair

A diversity of entertainments and activities for all of the family. The emphasis is on field sports activities with competitions in fly casting, gun dog handling and clay pigeon shooting.


Glenurquhart Highland Games
August 26th
Blairbeg Park, Drumnadrochit

Traditional events performed by the heavyweight athletes – throwing weights and hammers and tossing the caber. In addition, there is the Glen Challenge, hill race, track running for adults and children, solo piping and the very popular tug o’war.


Highland Military Tattoo
September 8th to 10th
Fort George, Inverness

Highland Dancers

Hosted in the largest military fort in the UK, the Tattoo brings together top military performers, talented young local performers and some of the world’s finest re-enactors. Gets off to a roaring start with a Typhoon fly past and culminates with a stunning fireworks display.


Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running
September 24th

Quite possibly one of the most stunning marathons in the world, with spectacular scenery, fantastic atmosphere and a truly memorable experience. Plus there’s plenty more to enjoy, including the pre-race Pasta Party, Sports Expo, Baxters Food & Drink Fayre, pipe bands, live music and kids’ activities.


Loopallu – Music Festival
September 29th and 30th

Loopallu Festival

The music festival that has been held annually since 2005 attracting 2,500 people which essentially doubles the population of the town while the event is being held.
