Halfway Through Our 50th Year: A Look at the Charities We’ve Supported So Far

Handing over a cheque to Lucky2BeHere Charity as part of our 50 year anniversary

As part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2025, we wanted to do something meaningful to thank the communities who have supported us over the years. Every month this year, a member of the Jacobite team is choosing a Charity of the Month, and we’re donating £500 to support their work.

From local healthcare to mental health support, animal rescue to life-saving training, these charities all mean a great deal to our team and it’s been a privilege to share their stories.

Here’s a look back at the incredible organisations we’ve supported so far this year:

January – MERT Highland

Handing over a donation of £500 to MERT Highland

We kicked off our Charity of the Month initiative with a donation to MERT Highland, a volunteer team providing lifesaving pre-hospital care across the Highlands. An Talla’s own Anita MacDonald knows first-hand how vital their work is - after receiving their help, she went on to volunteer with them herself.

February – Munlochy Animal Aid

Our February donation went to Munlochy Animal Aid, based on the Black Isle. They work tirelessly to care for sick animals and find them new homes. Founder Iona Nicol shared her gratitude for the support, especially after a difficult winter.

March – Alzheimer Scotland

In March, our guide Malcolm Willis nominated Alzheimer Scotland, who have supported him and his wife Lynda since her diagnosis six years ago.

Our April Charity of the Month was Alzheimer Scotland, chosen by our guide Malcolm Willis.

“The Alzheimer Scotland support team helps you feel that you are not alone in the journey of this disease. Thank you Alzheimer Scotland.” – Malcolm & Lynda Willis

April – Highland Hospice

Dana nominated Highland Hospice in memory of her dad, who received end-of-life care there.

“Despite everything he was going through, he always had a smile on his face, and the Hospice played a huge part in that.” – Dana

Thank you to Highland Hospice for the compassion and care you provide for so many families.

May – Sunflower Home Care (Highland Hospice)

A cheque for Sunflower Homecare, nominated by Mark Noble

Assistant Operations Manager, Mark Noble, nominated Sunflower Home Care in recognition of the incredible support his mum and family received.

“Mum’s last wish was to be at home, and with the support from Sunflower and others we were able to make this happen. I will always be thankful to the carers for everything they did for us and my Mum.” – Mark

June – Lucky2BHere

Lucky2behere cheque donation from Jacobite Loch Ness Cruises

Our June donation went to Lucky2BHere, a Highland charity providing defibrillators and life-saving CPR training across the Highlands and Islands. Our guide Peter, who volunteers with them, shared:

“Training people to save someone’s life is very important to me.” – Peter

Lucky2BHere has distributed more than 1,000 defibrillators in less than 15 years, and we’re proud to support their work.

July – Centred Scotland

For July, our chosen charity was Centred Scotland - a mental health charity based in Inverness. They run the Discovery College drop-in space in the Eastgate Centre, open four days a week and supporting more than 100 people each week with free, face-to-face help from people with lived experience of mental health challenges.

💛 Thank you, Centred Scotland, for everything you do.

Looking Ahead

We’re a little over halfway through our 50th year, and there are many more inspiring charities to come. Keep an eye on our social channels each month as we continue to shine a light on the incredible organisations making a difference across the Highlands.
