Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week.

So, we know how to look after our customers – but do we know how to look after ourselves?!

We live in a world where we are consumed by social media, we are constantly surrounded by the desirable, but not always the achievable. Comparing your life to other peoples is a slippery slope and as the old saying goes, comparison is the thief of joy.  Because even those with “body goals” or “house goals” or “relationship goals” have days where everything isn’t just as it seems.

As a team, we are made up of different ages & generations, different genders & sexual orientation, different backgrounds & religions – but we all have a heart that beats and a mind that ticks. We are all the same, just a little different – and that’s what makes us exciting! But we are also just trying to make it through the day, making the most of every situation.

So, the burning question stands – when is it OK to say, “I’m not OK?” the answer is it’s always ok to say you’re not ok, but we understand that it’s difficult sometimes. It doesn’t make you less of a person, less of a man, or less of a woman if you are struggling. It’s brave to speak out, it’s empowering, and it will lighten the load almost immediately.  Since teaming up with Mikeys Line for 2019, we have learnt a lot about the importance of Self-care and ensuring that you are your own number one.

We asked some of the team what they do when days are getting a little tough, some like to talk, some like to go for walks, listen to music or spend time with friends. Some people like to exercise, and others like to cosy in with a film or a good book.

It’s a beautiful world we live in, but it can also be a scary and lonely one. Whenever days are getting too much please always remember that you are so loved. You are important to so many people, and you make someone’s day every day.

If anyone ever needs to talk in a confidential non-judgemental environment, you can text 07779303303 or you can visit 19 Academy Street, Inverness, IV1 1JN.
